Brand New Ride
The Trans-Pyrenean Challenge
(24th June - 1st July 2017)
(Now booking - 4 places taken, 6 places available)
The Trans Pyrenean Challenge is another new idea from Nick Sanders, spinning off from the Pyrenean Project. Again with BREXIT in mind, this allows us to ride inexpensively on the continent but off-road and in the magnificent wilderness of Europe's most massive mountain range. The journey runs from west to east, traversing the entire French / Spanish divide and best of all, as long as you have a desire to ride with a fantastic group, where there isn't any traffic, we will also have the southern France summer on our side. After a couple of experimental forays I feel the route is best attempted on bikes 800cc and less. For me, the rule of thumb is bike size rises with experience and the 450cc - 700cc range is ideal. Pack little, travel light.
This bold but short expedition is suitable for riders with some off-road experience and interesting enough for intermediate riders. Much of the route will be on hard packed stony track, some soft mud if we hit bad weather with occasional shallow stream crossings. Part of the route follows old smuggling tracks so is sometimes quite remote, necessitating a degree of self-reliance. Linking roads will be tarmaced so we can then mix our accommodation from wild camping to both refuge and boutique-style hotels in the valleys.

This is a must do adventure. It lasts a week and at £660 is a stupidly affordable price. Please download the form, fill it in, scan and send off to nick@nicksanders.com

Trans-Pyrenees: approx route

"I've not ridden off-road a lot, unless you include several thousand miles across South America on gravel and unpaved roads, nothing you would describe as 'technically difficult' so the Trans-Pyrennes is a new and exciting challenge for me too, and I can't wait."

This whole place is away from the madding crowds and is a perfect ending to what will be a challenging and defining expedition.
